
The 10 year old IDeA was set up to support Local Government improvement and has helped deliver more impressive rates of positive change than in any other public sector area. The IDe&A comprises 300 Local Government Association employees.
Alan Gorringe designed and supervised delivery of workshops regarding strategic career planning for senior employees. As a pilot developed, there was a clear demand for 1;1 coaching support which was then provided after workshop attendance.
I&DeA linked the programme to their achievement of Investors in People status and their strategy for support of their permanent employees including a disproportionate number of experts and very senior people moving between the organization and back into Local Government.
Orcni created a scheme tailored specifically to the needs of I&DeA which depends on close partnership working with the client. Senior managers bought into a system which methodically helped them consider and develop their career path and equipped them to motivate others to do the same.
Success lead to increased managerial confidence and motivation, benefitting them and the organization in creating 'permeability' in the organization.
