Bradford Vision: Career Management

The local strategic partnership brought together the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to work together on a range of district-wide city initiatives. Alan Gorringe coached 40 staff and senior managers for a career management programme, devising the brief, planning and delivering a bespoke package for two tiers of the organisation. This included setting up assessment centres, looking at technical aspects of employment-seeking such as CV preparation and psychometrics and 1-2-1 coaching and mentoring. The tiers of work had to be negotiated as staff were hungry for more.

Former Chief Executive of Bradford Vision, Elaine Appelbee explains: "Alan exceeded people's expectations and really built their confidence. He understood the recruitment process in great depth; by the end of the programme, staff at all levels understood the mindset of recruiters, as well as the more technical aspects regarding gaining market knowledge and coping with assessment procedures. The course was a tremendous success. All the delegates went on to new roles and several plucked up courage to apply for and gain much more senior positions than might have been previously expected."
